Jim and Maureen D

My name is Jim Digby, I’m 57 years young and work as an entertainment producer. I’ve been with Marino’s Fitness since October 7, 2020, after a “not so pleasant” experience with a trainer from my community fitness facility.

The pandemic shut down the entertainment industry, thus providing a rare opportunity for me to be home; I took lemons and made lemonade by focusing my energy into my health. Life on the road doesn’t paint a healthy picture and I was with systemic structural issues, poor eating habits and a few extra pounds. I decided to hire a team of professionals to help me, which lead me to Marino’s.

I find the entire Marino’s team to be of the highest, most professional character. My program is designed for me, around my goals, and let’s face it, my issues. Each Coach is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and engaged in helping me feel and move better. I never feel passed over or ignored despite working out in a semiprivate environment. It’s a supportive and welcoming environment; even the other clients know your name.

It’s only been 6-months, but I’ve noticed significant improvement in my flexibility, increased strength in my core, and a general overall feeling of wellbeing. Each workout leaves me feeling successful since it’s tailored specifically to my needs. If I ever come in not feeling myself, the Coaches are able to make the necessary adjustments to keep me moving and pain-free. I love coming to Marino’s so much that my wife started in November and my son just started in their Athlete Performance Program.

My wife and I became partners in our pursuit of greater health which makes this journey easier and more meaningful. We talk about healthy meal planning, discuss our programs, and have become more purposeful with our daily routines. We are older parents, and we want to be present for our children and be able to play and take part in their lives. This is our commitment to each other and to our family.

My name is Maureen Digby, I’m 54 years old. I am a mom, enrichment teacher, substitute teacher, yoga teacher, and educator with Beautycounter. I have several friends who belong to Marino’s, but after seeing the changes in Jim, I knew Marino’s was the right fit for me. I joined in November of 2020 and have zero regrets.

My introduction to fitness started when I was in college at the Bally’s in King of Prussia. Since then, I “gym hopped” at various facilities and dabbled with other trainers, but nothing to the caliber of Marino’s. Though I regularly practice yoga, I knew incorporating strength training was important for building lean muscle. Marino’s develops my programs to compliment my yoga practice, focusing on keeping my joints safe and healthy. The bonus is working with their registered dietitian, learning what MY body needs for MY goals. There are no gimmicks or voodoo magic, only science and realistic eating.

The staff at Marino’s truly listen to your needs, goals, and fears. It’s not a crazy “one-size-fits-all” workout you get at other gyms. They are all about me and what I need. It’s hard to explain what Marino’s is, because calling it a gym seems wrong. But it’s not 1:1 training either, it’s better. You work with multiple coaches and each one brings something unique to the conversation. If one coach gives you a cue that doesn’t make sense, another one will swoop in and offer another cue which makes the message clear. You have multiple coaches helping you, without paying the price of 1:1 training.

I am stronger, I move better in my yoga practice, and I feel more connected to my body. If you’re considering something like this, stop thinking and just take the leap. You become part of a family, a community that supports you exactly where you are. Zero judgement from staff or members. You can roll out of bed, look a mess, and no one cares. You will learn about why you’re doing an exercise. I wasn’t expecting this from a gym.

If you’re a parent, this is the best gift you can give to your children. You will feel better physically and mentally, so you can deal with the day-to-day challenges. You’ll lead by example, showing them what it means to take care of their bodies. Most importantly, you will show up as the best version of yourself. As they say, you can’t fill someone else’s cup until you fill your first. You deserve it and so do they!
